Happy Sunday everyone! Today I wanted to talk about my obsession with smoothie bowls. I became hooked on smoothie bowls while on vacation in Vegas last year. Since then, I have been making them at home or getting them from my favorite juice place here in Knoxville called The Juice Box. They're so much more filling to me than just a smoothie alone and I like to eat them once a week to ensure I get enough fruit in my diet.
So to make these at home you need to start with a smoothie base. You can use any kind of flavors in your smoothie base so just throw your favorite fruits and veggies in the blender with ice and blend until smooth. I like to throw more exotic flavors into my smoothie base like açaí berries or dragon fruit but you can put whatever you like. If you don't want to make your own smoothie base you can always pick up smoothie mixes from your local grocery store or from Amazon. Using a smoothie base will cut your prep time in half and I will put a link down below for a smoothie mix I have used before.
After you get your base in a bowl top it with your favorite fruits and toppings. My favorite fruits to put on top are strawberries, blueberries, and bananas. For toppings I like to mix it up and change my combination almost every time. My favorite toppings are honey, bee pollen, sliced almonds, and granola.
I love smoothie bowls because they give me that sweet fix without having to run to chocolate or ice cream.
Since they do have a lot of natural sugar I do try to only eat them on days I have a low sugar intake and days I exercise.
